Privacy policy

worknigeria.ng is a free index of job vacancies in Nigeria. You can use it without an account and you apply on the hiring organisation’s own website, so we hold almost nothing about you. This page explains what we receive, why, who else handles it and your rights.

In short

  • No accounts and no forms. Google Analytics cookies only if you accept them.
  • Cloudflare, which hosts the site, receives technical details such as your IP address with every request.
  • If you email us, we use what you write only to reply or to check a vacancy.
  • We never collect CVs or applications, and job seekers never pay.

Who is responsible

worknigeria.ng is run by Oleg Cherkas, who also runs work.ke. He decides what personal data this website handles and how it is used.

For any question or request about your data, email Oleg Cherkas at [email protected]. It is the same address shown on our contact page.

What we receive and why

worknigeria.ng has no accounts and no forms. It uses Google Analytics cookies only if you accept them, and it counts daily visitors without cookies, as described below. You read listings without telling us who you are, and you apply on the employer’s own website.

Browsing: Google Analytics

What
The pages you open, the page or app that sent you here, your browser and device details (such as device type, operating system and screen size), your language and your approximate location, such as country and city. Page addresses include any search words and filters you choose on the jobs board or the employer list, because the site keeps them in the address, and Google Analytics also records those search words as a search term. When you click a link to apply, we also record which vacancy it was: its worknigeria.ng page, employer, category, county, experience level and source. We see nothing you do on the employer’s site.
Why
To count visits, see how people find worknigeria.ng and learn which listings and guides are useful, so we can improve them.
Handled by
Google, through Google Analytics (measurement ID G-G4YFST2J08). Google states that Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Every visit: Cloudflare hosting

What
Technical details your browser sends with every request, such as your IP address, the page you ask for, the time and your browser type.
Why
To deliver the page, keep the site fast and protect it from abuse.
Handled by
Cloudflare, which hosts the site. See the Cloudflare privacy policy and its data processing addendum.

Daily visitor count, without cookies

What
When a page opens, your browser sends one short signal to our own counter. The counter turns your IP address and browser identification string into a one-way code, mixed with a secret that is new each day and deleted the next day, so the code cannot be traced back to you. We keep only that code, the date, your country and whether you use a phone. No cookie is set and your IP address is not stored.
Why
To know how many different people use worknigeria.ng each day, including people who decline analytics cookies. Known bots and data-centre traffic are not counted.
Handled by
Our own counter, which runs on Cloudflare. Daily counts are kept for up to 400 days.

If you email us

What
Your email address, your name if you give it and what you write.
Why
Only to reply to you or to check a vacancy you sent us.
Handled by
Google, which runs our mailbox. See the Google privacy policy.

What we never collect

We never collect CVs, applications, ID numbers or payment details, and job seekers never pay anything. When you apply, your details go to the employer through its own website and its own privacy policy applies.

Where your data goes

Cloudflare, Google and GitHub, which stores the site’s code, are based in the United States, so the little data they handle for worknigeria.ng may be processed outside Nigeria. See also the GitHub privacy statement.

How long we keep it

Emails are kept while they are needed to answer you or to check a vacancy, and are then deleted. Cloudflare keeps its technical logs for the periods set out in its own policy.

  • Google Analytics: data linked to the analytics cookies is kept for the retention period set in our Analytics account, which Google allows to be either 2 or 14 months. Totals that do not identify a browser, such as visits per day, are not limited by that setting. See Google’s explanation.

Cookies

worknigeria.ng’s own code sets no cookies. It stores one thing in your browser’s local storage: your answer in the cookie banner (wk-consent, accepted or declined). The only cookies come from Google Analytics, and only after you accept them:

  • _ga tells one browser apart from another. It lasts up to 2 years.
  • _ga_G4YFST2J08 keeps track of your current visit. It lasts up to 2 years.

Google describes both in its list of Google Analytics cookies.

worknigeria.ng asks before it sets them. Until you accept, Google Analytics runs without cookies and receives only basic signals with no identifier, such as a page view. The site works fully either way. To change your answer, use Cookie settings at the bottom of any page. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, use a private window, or install Google’s Analytics opt-out add-on.

Your rights

Under Nigeria’s Nigeria Data Protection Act, 2023 you can ask whether we hold personal information about you, ask for a copy, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to its use.

Email [email protected] and we will answer as soon as we can.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we handled your data or your request, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

Security

Every page is served over HTTPS, so what you send and receive is encrypted between your browser and the server. Emails are kept in our password-protected Google Workspace account.

Changes to this policy

When worknigeria.ng changes how it handles personal data, we update this page first, change the date at the top and add a line to the history below. We will not start collecting a new kind of personal data, such as CVs, without explaining it here first.

History

  • 1 November 2026: added Google Analytics, with cookies only after you accept, and a daily visitor count without cookies.
  • 1 November 2026: first version published.
